White Lady Waterfall - Lydford Gorge

fen_snapz's picture

Lovely location, with a 30 metre waterfall where the River Lydd tumbles to the ground, lots of walks of varying length. Woodland and uphill walks, also visible here as well as the waterfall is the Devils Cauldron. The waterfall itself is along a fairly strenuous walk, with lots of uphill walking which can be rather tiring, they advise not to walk this if you have heart problems or mobility issues.

National Trust property, with toilet facilities and refreshments available.

Not accessible for wheelchair users except the railway path. Steep slopes, many steps, loose gravel, uneven and narrow paths, undulating terrain. Level path (short inital steep section of path) starting from waterfall entrance for ¼ mile along old GWR line to accessible bird hide. Seats every 50 yards.

Buckland abbey and Castle Drogo are located fairly nearby, as well as Dartmoor itself.
