Polruan, Cornwall

gizzy1p's picture

Polraun is a small fishing village set on a steep hill in Cornwall. Whilst it's less touristy than Fowey it still boasts lots of character; narrow streets are lined by small cottages ending at the Quay. Only a couple of shops, pubs and one post office are present in the village, indeed the absence of commercial activity lends itself to creating an authentic unspoilt atmosphere. I would recommend wondering around both villages as both are charming locations and there's lots to see and capture for both landscape and candid photographers.

The example image was taken from the harbour in Fowey looking over to Polruan. Sunset to dusk is a great time to shot because the village lights reflect in the water. The boats in the harbour also make great subjects.
