Derwent Water, Keswick, Cumbria

macuser's picture

Before I found this location I hadn't found a decent view over Derwent Water which was easily accessible. Luckily I stumbled across this location when out on a cycle ride. The view is fantastic, maybe one of the best in the Lake District, you can see Catbells, Causey Pike, Grisedale Pike amongst others. The viewpoint faces easterly, so it might be a good one for sunrise.

The picture perfect hamlet of Grange is also worth visiting, even if it's just to have something nice to eat at the Bridge Cottage tea room, which is on the banks of the River Derwent. The double-arched bridge over the River Derwent is also worth a shot.
