  • Take a well composed landscape with
  • everything sharp.
  • Take fabulous pictures of flowers and nature.
  • Freeze action movement of children or sporting events
  • Show movement in water or create a sense of speed
  • Take well exposed pictures indoors at a concert, museum or church without using the flash.
  •

Get Your Camera Off Full Auto

Many novice photographers tend to use their expensive Digital SLR Camera on the fully auto setting and are often unimpressed by the average results this achieves. If you intend to use your camera like this you may as well stick with a compact camera. Our One Day Photography Courses will explain in simple terms when to use all the other settings and we'll show you how to take stunning photographs you will be proud to hang on your wall.

    Teaching Experience and Qualifications:

The owner and principal tutor is Glen Tillyard  who is an NCTJ qualified, award winning professional press photographer, with over 30 years experience in a vast range of photographic subjects.

I've also taught and lectured in photography and Photoshop at many adult colleges and schools throughout Leicestershire for 15 years. We also run specialist courses for police forces, Corporate and charities, including the British Red Cross.

I now specialise in running photography courses helping beginners to get the very best from their digital camera. I'm passionate about helping you to get off the full auto setting and I'll show you how to take stunning photographs in just one day.

Please don't take my word for how good these photography courses are but take a few moments to read some of the many testimonials on my website.

If you have any questions about photography or buying a camera then I'm happy to answer them without obligation.

    Very best wishes,
    Glen Tillyard

    Tutoring Approach:

We understand that different students have different learning styles so we use recognised teaching methods to ensure that whatever your needs we'll aim to get the message across, without using jargon, in a way you can understand.

All courses include detailed handouts and some courses come with laminated pocket guides to keep handy in your camera bag.

All the courses are hands on with practical sessions throughout to compliment the theory. Because we only cater for very small group ( maximum of six) we also allow time to review your images and offer constructive feedback and photo editing tips.

Most of our students have returned for so many courses that each year we have to add new subjects. This year we have added a new Flash Photography Course and a Big Cat Photography Course. We have a very active and supportive Facebook Group plus we offer student "Snap & Chat" days were students can meet up for a meal and photography outing.

Glen's courses have stopped me throwing away the digital camera and going back to film. The teaching style is relaxed, but I would say that it is impossible not to learn. Each session ends with a review of the photos taken during the day in a positive & constructive light. I would thoroughly recommend them for all levels of experience. Warning: these courses may be harmful to the bank balance once taken, but very beneficial for kit manufacturers!

The first course I did with Glen took me off automatic and in one day taught me so much about using my camera I have never looked back. In the last 2 years I have taken various courses with him and always his relaxed, fun approach makes learning a pleasurable experience. He never makes things too complicated, avoids technical jargon and just teaches you how to use your camera properly. Thanks to Glen I have now taken photos that I am proud to hang on my wall.

I have been on several courses run by Glen because he is an excellent tutor and I have learned so much in the last three years from his tuition. His courses are great fun and by the end of the day we have covered a lot of ground. One of the best things is that he also runs a photography Facebook page for those who've attended his sessions and we all post images and critique each other's and that is a great way to advance your skills even further. I strongly recommend Glen to anyone who wants to develop their photography skills.

I've attended a number of Glen's courses now and each time I've come away feeling confident I can capture an image or group of exposures with my new founds skills from the courses I've done.  Everything is put across in such a way, he makes the complex subject of photography seem like childsplay, he makes all the facts memorable and you always have great fun learning your new skills.  His enthusiasm is infectious and my only wish is that I could find more time in my busy schedule to go out taking more photosto put into practice what I've learnt.  I've been taking photographs with a number of different SLR cameras for 29 years, 20 of those with film cameras, but since switching to digital cameras I've learnt more in the last 4 years than I ever did in the previous 25 since attending my first course with Glen and I still have plenty of room for further development which I'm sure Glen will be helping me with in the future.  I highly recommend attending Glen's courses if you're feeling short on confidence when using your camera, because by the end of day of his course you will be positively brimming with it.  So much so, he even persuaded me to exhibit a few of my images.

I think I can safely say, going on beginners course with Glen was one of the best things I have done for a long time.....it has opened up a whole new world for me as far as hobbies go....I am a bit impatient with things but photography gives that instant result (almost). I am not technically minded at all but have learnt so much, I understand my camera and love putting that knowledge into practise. I have been on 6 of Glen's courses and have benefited from each and everyone. The facebook group is excellent, you can always rely on someone to help/critique/encourage....overseen by Glen...who always knows the answer!!!

Photography is one of my favorite hobbies. I have a great passion of taking landscape of nature. For this I bought my first camera at the last year of my graduation. It also helped me in my research work. After that I have captured thousands of pictures. Several people who saw my pictures did praise my hand of photography.
