Before I found this location I hadn't found a decent view over Derwent Water which was easily accessible. Luckily I stumbled across this location when out on a cycle ride.

Follow the road down from Keswick to Borrowdale, past Derwent water, past the hotels.... and keep going. The land gets greener and the valley walls start to rise around you. The road narrows between the crowded cottages of Rosthwaite where parking can be found .

Scale Force Waterfall may not be as well known as Aira Force, but in my opinion it's equally as impressive and from a photographer's perspective a great location.

You'll need a car with decent brakes and a clutch that doesn't slip because there is a very steep climb to the tarn. Few passing places so not for the faint hearted.

Best to arrive really early to get the most out of this stunning location - this was taken in October just before sunrise and I had the place to myself except for one other photographer. By 9.00am it was busy.

This location is on the shores of Wastwater. Netherbeck is one of the many streams flowing from the fells into the lake. The location is particularly special due to the photogenic bridge. I used the bridge to frame my composition.

Wastwater is the Lake District at its best. It's England’s deepest lake at 258 feet and lies in the Wasdale valley to the west of the National Park.
